Forum Overview
CO2 emissions from logistics and transportation make up for about 24% of global CO2 emissions. There is no denying that the green movement has taken hold in the supply chain and will continue to gain momentum. Many companies still ask themselves how to reduce carbon emissions and at the same time reduce energy related costs? 
 
Some organisations are only getting started on that journey, but many transportation related logistics companies have already taken bold action and discovered that reducing costs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions often go hand in hand. Where is your company on this journey? How green and sustainable is YOUR supply chain?

The Sustainability in the Supply Chain forum will focus on how a green supply chain can translate into reduced emissions, increased efficiency and lower energy related costs. A number of industry experts will give their perspectives on green initiatives and best practices in the industry that will help your company reduce its carbon footprint and remain sustainable in the long term. Carin ten Hage, Director of the Planet Me programme, TNT
Carin is responsible for a global programme that focuses on reducing the environmental impact of TNT’s operations and engaging all employees and their families. Furthermore she is engaged in the development of the overall sustainability strategy for TNT. Carin joined the company in 2002, where she held various positions within human resources and communications. Carin is a Dutch national and holds a degree in International Management and Marketing.

Willemijn van der Werf, Corporate Manager CSR & Environmental Strategy, KLM

Willemijn has been working at KLM since 2001 and is involved in environmental issues for more than 2 years. In Utrecht she studied International Economics & Economic Geography. She has worked at KLM Cargo in commercial functions in The Netherlands and Italy. In 2008 Willemijn moved to the corporate department CSR & Environmental Strategy; a department that has the goal to embed CSR strategy in the entire organization. She is working passionately on sustainability aspects involved in KLM’s biofuels program and has coordinated the biofuels demonstration flight. She is account manager for WWF-NL with whom KLM has a partnership since 2007.

Eelco Dijkstra - Managing Director, Europhia Consulting and SCExecutive.com
Eelco Dijkstra is the founder of Europhia Consulting, an executive search firm specialized in the logistics and supply chain industry with an office in Amsterdam and Singapore. In early 2009, he developed SCExecutive.com, a global networking and knowledge platform that connects executives in the sector. Eelco is the chairman of  VELA (Logistics Consultants Association) in the Netherlands and the Publisher of the SC Executive international supply chain magazine. He is currently involved in developing SC Green, an industry initiative to create a global CO2 measurement standard and certification program related to sustainability within the transportation and logistics industry. 

Vincent Blitterswijk - Consultant, EVO
The shippers organization EVO is a network organization operating between member companies and the local, national and European Government. Within the consultancy department of EVO, Vincent van Blitterswijk is responsible for projects in the field of Supply Chain, Distribution and Sustainability. He is involved in a wide range of projects regarding cost reduction and improving sustainability.

 

Jurgen Hoppenbrouwers - Director Supply Chain Strategy, Deloitte
Jurgen has over 17 years experience with Supply  Chain Strategy and Sustainability in various industries (Manufacturing, Real Estate, Consumer Business, Public industry and Transportation). Some his work include, Supply Chain and Sustainability assessment DSM, Development Sustainable Logistics tool for Ministry of Transport and Public Works, Sustainable Logistics improvement projects for over 50 companies, Supply Chain optimization European Steel wholesaler, Supply Chain Infrastructure (production & warehousing) optmisation Coca-Cola Germany, Supply Chain strategy and outsourcing logistics for Paramount Home Entertainment, Supply Chain network optimisation and logistics outsourcing logistics Nikon Europe, Transport optimisation/benchmarking logistics StoraEnso Supply Chain and logistics optimization Owens Illinois. Jurgen is certified in Production and Inventory Control (CPIM) from APICS and has a master degree in Management Consultancy (VU Amsterdam).

 

Dr. Paul Metz  - Director, INTEGeR Consult

Dr Paul E. Metz, has for more than 15 years been full-time involved in environmental policy and strategy, analysing perspectives and shaping concrete actions by leaders to get their organisations on track for a sustainable future. His professional experience in manufacturing, innovation and issue management - based on education in economics, natural and environmental sciences - has been valuable in showing potential solutions in 'responsible' business and politics for many clients. Next to being a boardroom and management advisor and a well-known speaker at international events on sustainable development, energy and climate change, Paul Metz is a co-founder and was the first executive director of e5 - the European Business Council for a Sustainable Energy Future - from 1996 until 2001. This is a pro-active business initiative that organises for European firms the promotion of their business interests in the EU and the UN climate negotiations.

 

Lizan Hofstede - Quality Manager, Vanderlande Industries

Lizan Hofstede is responsible for Quality Management within Vanderlande Industries for the past 5 years. She has a background in Industrial engineering and management science and before she has been working for KPMG consulting as Supply Chain consultant. Lizan is participating in the Sustainability group of Vanderlande Industries, located in Veghel. The Sustainability group has been initiated to study the ecological impact of the companies’ activities and to develop eco friendly solutions for customers and the internal organization.

Robert van Ree - Manager Marketing & Communications, Vanderlande Industries

Robert van Ree is responsible for Marketing & Communications for all Vanderlande Business Areas since one year.Since 2001 he has been consulting in the field of Warehouse & Distribution with a special focus on Total Cost of Ownership in Logistic centers. Robert is participating in the Sustainability group of Vanderlande Industries, located in Veghel. The Sustainability group has been initiated to study the ecological impact of the companies’ activities and to develop eco friendly solutions for customers and the internal organization.


Jan van Doremalen, Senior Partner, CQM

Jan has a degree in mathematics from the Eindhoven University of Technology and started his career with research and teaching in mathematics. In 1986 he started working for CQM, at that time still a staff-department at Philips Electronics Company, working on application of operations research and econometrical models in decision making on forecasting, inventory management and supply chain planning. In 1993 a management buy-out made CQM into an independent consulting company. The company works for clients in the entire supply chain in strategic and tactical projects in which analytical and mathematical model are used to support decision making.
